With Christmas fast approaching and the Championship league table taking shape, I am still confident that we can grab a play-off place, at the very least this season. I am confident of this because I really feel our home form will be the key factor in our promotion push.
I wrote an article earlier this season, expressing the importance of our fans, and yet again they have done the team proud. We just need to keep it up and see out the rest of the season as strong as we possibly can.
In my opinion, yet again too many teams that were tipped to do well in this league, have failed to impress. We need to take full advantage of this and go into every game without fear. Have we been doing this? On the whole, I would have to say yes. But there is still a long way to go until the end of the season, and in Brian McDermott we have a manager that has a good understanding of what it takes to manage a team in this division.
I don't want to get carried away and claim we will win the league, but I am still confident that we have a good chance of securing a play-off spot, come the end of the season.
Obviously I am wanting us to do well, but there is a difference between dreaming and the realisation that we could actually achieve this, this season. I think there are some very strong and capable teams in this league that will no doubt take a late surge up the table, but I believe we have what it takes to remain towards the top of the table.
This league has long been a difficult one to judge, but I know that we are Leeds, and we have a better chance than most to achieve something this season.
All this being said, achievements are not always about silverware or promotions. They can also be gained in team spirit, financial targets, fan support and many others. I have seen the change this season, and that is why I am confident of success this season, just as I was at the start of it.
