In February 2012 when Neil Warnock was appointed I thought this is the man that will patch up our leaky defence & finally get Leeds United promoted.
The long takeover, budgets & tactics aside, the players that Neil Warnock has relied on this season haven't been good enough & Neil has been very open saying that he wont be here if Leeds United are still in the Championship next term.
Well the reality is after a 2-1 home defeat vs Derby he has now departed.
Some of the suggestions for his replacement I've seen are frightening, I know the club has fallen but some have suggested names that shouldnt be linked with Leeds United.
Steve McClaren, Mark Hughes, Michael Appleton, Steve Kean & Kenny Jackett are names that stick out as ones that made me raise my eyebrows, those wouldn't even make my top 100 candidates.
Martin O'Neill has emerged as a contender but to me he would be Neil Warnock 2.0. Passionate and up for the challenge ten years ago, but fast forward to 2013 he looks lethargic & ready to retire.
In saying that, I'll keep an open mind & to whoever comes in. I just want them to be able to handle the expectation, make the players play like it really matters and add pace and width to the team which has been missing this season.
I also hope the new Manager never uses the now immortal line: "I can't fault the effort, they're a great bunch.."
Whether the new manager is from the UK or if we take the leap and venture abroad for a different method of coaching, I will back him 100% and hope that it is a tenth year out of the Premier League to remember.
