Warnock: Stick or Sack?

It's usual for fans to rate the team after a game but I'm asking even with the recent results aside should Neil Warnock stay as manager or do we need somebody with fresher ideas.

Please leave a comment as it will be interesting to get a cross section of fans thoughts. I'll send the best to the club for consideration.

The new owners need to act now

Get Warnock to commit for one more season and back him with cash

OR

Appoint a new manager - di matteo or nigel adkins now - sack warnock and spent some money - this lot are not good enough

When Warnock was appointed I thought we were getting a good experienced manager. But he makes stupid decisions, like playing Peltier out of position. Making him captain. Singing Gray and Drury and not using them. Warnock out! His style of football is awful, how can he expect people to pay to watch that. You can watch it every sunday down the park!!

I think stability is what you need at a club. He's a proven manager, let him have a good go at it. Might not be automatic promotion this year but in a couple of years, yes. You need to feel it is "your" team and if you change managers every 1 or 2 years then no one ever feels like it's their team.

The thing is though, NW has made it clear he is off at the end of the season... So in my mind he has no committment nor plans for the future for Leeds. I think we'd be better off bringing in someone now to build for next season (again)

You are joking? Stability? Agreed, but under the right curcumstances (not possible under Bates). His own team? Indeed, he's brought in all his own players, his pals in some cases and he's failed. Utter dross on display. I didn't want him and I don't want him now. Here's a point for you.... Everyone raves about Warnock's promotion record.... Is it really that good? 7 promotions in 30 seasons? Grayson has had 3 in 6 years...not saying he's the answer but Warnock is soooo behind the times with hoofball, journeymen, no pace, no vibrancy and negative approaches. Top it off with multiple players out of position and you have the worst side I've seen in 32 years. Go Neil, you've been a shambles.

adkins for sure, get him now, why? he gets players to pass and move, warnock? not a clue, anybody who knows anything about the game can see this, the thing is most of our players are ok , maybe we need a bit more pace, but a system of pass and move and we can still be in playoffs. (YOU ALL KNOW PASS AND MOVE WE LEARNT IT AT SCHOOL EXEPT WARNOCK WAKE UP LEEDS FANS

What reason would you not want Adkins. It can't be for his type of football. At least he tries to play the passing game

Warnock was a man of his time and that time has gone. He should go. Long ball as plan a and plan b is flawed. A belief in brown, who is now so slow he can't even foul players, shows warnock is living in the past.
We need a new manager who can build from the ground up. He will need to start with 4 or 5 of the existing squad and shift the rest. If we get a new manager now then decent players will sign for us. As it stands who would want to sign for a club which has a manager who said he will not stay beyond the season?

Anyone who believes that this is a promotion winning team is quite wrong. Sadly, Neil Warnock isn't the man to do it, the players he has brought in have never been regarded as quality footballers, they are average (or below) journeymen cloggers and hoofers. Don't get me wrong, he may have believed that this was what was needed to get us promoted but it clearly isn't. We have no flair, no pace and very little confidence. Becchio is clearly out of favour with Warnock and is being bullied and forced out of the club - perhaps to raise funds! Whatever, Warnock isn't the way forward, we all need a dose of realism, this seasons gone. We need to get someone in asap, a young positive manager who can build and develop a promotion winning team for next season, someone who is prepared to commit to the club for longer than 18 months, not for their own ego and to enhance their reputation as a promotion winning record breaker, but as a genuine career step to take a big club back to where it ought to be and lead them to further glory. I wanted Warnock to do well, but he's lost it now, the majority of fans have turned and its now time for him to walk and nor waste any more of the clubs cash.

The only reason Warnock is still here, is that sacking him would leave those who wrongly appointed him wide open to criticism. Warnock's methods are clearly outdated for the modern game, and even the miracle of promotion would only prolong a "hoofball" style which would need totally dismantelling in the Premier League. ..... We should not even consider backing a man who has no "eye on the future", and by his own admission only wants to be here for "one season". Delaying the inevitable is only alienating even more fans (and loosing revenue), ..... the same could be said for moving Bates and all his remaining lufc "business interests" out of our club.

I agree with Iain, Warnock was the man a few years ago but time has passed and so has his appetite for success. Every other manager in this league knows how we play, the tactics, team formation etc as it rarely ever changes.
With NWs constant faith in the likes of Brown ?, Varney, Norris, Green, Tate etc its no wonder we struggle as these players are well past their sell by date. Why not give Redfearn and Naylor a chance , at least they know the talented youngsters we have in our development squad(Poleon, Dawson, Payne) who could prove themselves in the first team.
I,d rather have a hungry player willing to prove himself than a has been going through the motions just for a wage, and at present what have we got to lose, especially with the performances we have seen lately.

GFH didn't employ Warnock, so it's not their fault for the fare that's being dished up! Whilst I think his tactics, team selections and motivational techniques leave something to be desired, I think to can him now would be folly! I am 100% convinced that GFH are working behind the scenes, preparing for next season, and with a new manager at the helm. The game has changed globaly since the current Barca & Atletico teams have totally dominated and demolished English teams in the recent past. Young managers are learning that the way forward is with this type of football, and it is this type of manager that I believe GFH will be seeking to employ. Look at it another way, you don't invest £50m+ to stay as you are, which is an extremely disfunctional club. They will not give NW much more than loose change, and I don't blame them. So for now, stick with what we have, hope for the best for the rest of the season, and then all systems go next year. As a closing punt, I would bring in Charlie Taylor at LB, Chris Dawson CM (protected by Tongue & Austin).

For the sake of the long term future of Leeds United, Neil Warnock must be shown the door, along with his side-kicks. They should be replaced by a younger, hungrier and more ambitious manager with Richard Naylor promoted to First Team Coach ... at the moment there are better, unemployed managers out there ... Nigel Adkins and David O'Leary as examples.

When David O'Leary was wrongly sacked as manager of Leeds United he said he would love to come to Leeds one day as he had "unfinished business at the club".
I think that with the young talent we have coming through O'Leary would be the perfect choice to take us forward. We made great advances when he was manager, had many neutrals admiring our style of football and were WINNING GAMES AND FANS.
Warnock has had his time a long time ago along with the flops he drags around from club to club with him. He knows he's gone at the end if the season and the players he's brought in will be gone as well.
NO MORE MONEY FOR HIM NO MORE TIME FOR HIM LETS GET O'Leary BACK BOW AND GET VACK TO THE PREM LEAGUE BACK TO THE FUTURE!. MOT FOREVER.

I agree, I would always prefer stability in a club but we don't have stability now. Warnock hasn't committed himself past this season. He wants his cake and eat it....no promotion - he leaves, promotion - he might sign another contract and play football that will surely get us relegated. I say time for a change and bring in someone who will provide stability for the next few years.

We all know that the promise of the premiership is where the real money is. An estimated £80 million from tv deals alone. This is the year for any team with ambition to set their stall out, and gain the promotion required. This would then make the rumoured £52 million take over of Leeds united afc by GFH Capital seem like small change. If Warnock was to now get the 3/4 (decent) players in that he keeps speaking about. Then I for one think we are still in with a chance. There is no point changing manager on a whim. Warnock has a proven track record so we either back him or sack him. Its time for GFH TO SHOW THEIR HAND. And get the players in that are definitely required now. If we are to stand any chance come May.

GO asap before Nigel Adkins is snapped up by Blackpool. His 'Team' which he promised us last season is nowt but crap as said nowt but journeymen and clogger's. The way he speaks about fans is despicable does he not realise it is us that keeps the club going. I would only keep Ross, Rodulph, El-Hadji, Tonge ,Tate & Dury. Possibly Lee's, Ashdown Byram (Lees & Byram on loan to another club). A good buy imo would be Lee Camp (GK). With 10 days left in the transfer window I am now tending to think same old same old all mouth no new staff, how long are we to put up with this? As far as I'm concerned batesout is still the puppet master pulling Leeds United's Strings. As a final parting shot Becchio WAS AT Bournemouth watching Wigan last Tuesday, I saw him I was there as well

It seems almost everyone agrees we should have a balanced side with some of the youngsters being abetted by experience and nous. It is not rocket science but it does seem beyond NW. We are used to our pressing short passing game and this hoof-ball stuff is not LUFC's way.

I would like Di Matteo or Adkins failing which Naylor backed by Redfearn with a clear mandate to get the youngsters in - all on 5 year deals - tell the poachers to screw themselves and give the manager at least 3 years to get us back strongly.

Assuming that Becchio is on his way we need at least five more players and I would go for:
Kilgallon, Matt Phillips and McKail-Smith, Parr from Palace and Kieron Dyer to try and do a Collins/Strachan end of career re-birth.
We should try and get Barkley on loan until the end of the season.

Then the squad would look goodish:
GK - Kenny, Ashdown,
DEF - Byram, Peltier, Lees, Pearce, Kilgallon, Parr, Taylor
MID - Dyer, Phillips, Barkley, Green, Austin, Dawson, Hall, White
STR - Somma, Poleon, Diouf, McCormack, McKail-Smith

I wouldn't let Norris, Varney or Brown anywhere near the first team:
Would line up:
Kenny, Byram, Lees, Kilgallon, Parr, Dyer, Austin, Barkley, Phillips, McCormack, McKail-Smith // Ashdown, Pearce, White, Dawson, Poleon, Diouf +one rotating sub.

Nigel Adkins just sacked by Southampton would be a good replacement for long ball merchant and boring tactic man NW. Adkins during his three year spell at Southampton, he guided the Saints to back-to-back promotions, taking them from League One to the Premier League, He also did an amazing Job with Scunthorpe, I'm from Scunthorpe and when he was there I used to go down and watch them as they were playing so good football and lets face it after watching NW's style of Football all season this/He is exactly what we need. So I say NW Out, Nigel Adkins In....!!!! MOT

18k crowds say it all, I go and don't enjoy it anymore. Around me in the kop the feeling I got was that lots WANTED them to score so they could boo. Listening to his comments on the radio on the way home he has lost the ploy, slagging the fans as fickle. If he is sacked in an hour it's an hour too late for me. I wanted him but I was wrong I dread to think what next years season ticket renewals will be if he honours us with one more go. GFH aren't helping him though, why didn't they make a statement after Colin's beehatch Jones touted our players around last week. A simple byrams going nowhere would make a statement of intent. Frankly I don't know where we go from here the apathy is total & Colin is not going to reignite any excitement. I accept that we are mid table kack for at least the next decade and that's very sad frankly

If we really feel that we can reach the lottery of the play offs then we should stick, Given that we lie 11th and have a massively inferior goal difference the reality is that we have very little chance, and therefore we should start building a team for the future now.

Individuals can win games teams win championships. Over the last few years we have filled the squad with old slow has beens who might have fitted in but for the most part were misfits.

Identify young key players, add similar players, ensure that there is a balance of creativity and pace, augment with older players with relevant experience and the specific brief to nurture the younger team members - and have the confidence to play football and stick with it.

And Warnock? Whilst I wasn't at the match yesterday, Eddie Grays silence when Warnock maintained that Brown was one of the men of the match was deafening. Warnock's post match interviews are getting more and more bizarre each week.

I think it is time for NW to go and be replaced by Steve Kean assisted by a tennis fitness coach to improve their overall energy levels. GFH need to comunicate more by twitter & perhaps run weekly meat raffles to engage more with the fans & improve attendances. I would also flog Becchio & Byram to reinvest the money in the team & also give Varney a long run in the team bcuz he is a quality player if given a proper chance. We as fans need to unite behind the team & the idiots in the kop constantly moaning & booing NW should be ashamed of themselves.

Warnock needs to be sacked! The club needs to get a quality manager in from abroad with serious credentials. How many signings and managers have turned out to be rubbish? You start with a good manager, support him and then watch us grow instead of a below average manager with below average players who are shrinking. We have been stuck in this rut for too long and keep gowing round in circles. Stop it and start again professionally. GFH should show their clout and intent and so far they haven't done anything - infact they look like a waste of space!

Warnock has not been an improvement on Grayson and the type of football he plays is less attractive, the negativity generated by
the fans comes from the belief that Bates and warnock are unable to
drive the club forward on the pitch. Results have not been good enough for a long time, good young players the future of the club have
been sold or left to seek a brighter future on more promising turf, The club has been wallowing for to long and the fresh winds GFH bring
will not move the club forward while the sails are full of holes the rigging is gone and the captin and lieutenant are well past there retirement date

I never wanted warnock to begin with but there is no point getting rid now. He was always a short term appointment and there is still a slim chance he could achieve promotion this season. Anybody complaining about the style of football, who also advocated his appointment a year ago can get stuffed as far as I am concerned. You wanted him, knowing what style he played. Get over it. The football is awful but results have us not too far away. Endure until the end of the season and whatever the outcome warnock needs to go in the summer.

Neil Warnock must surely realise that just trying to play the long ball game is no longer attractive football especially when its not working. Fans are paying Bates prices to watch LUFC, at least we should be able to play football with the team he has put together. Give the fans something to cheer about. Try to pass it about rather than route one. It is frustrating! We can play better.....can we?

Guys - no need for abuse especially on the Lord's day.

I honestly believe that all is not lost & we still have cause for optimism. GFH will come good & with Ken Bates guiding them in an advisory role only then we will soon be on the up.

Looking forward to the Spurs game now & honestly think we will beat them. I would unleash Varney & Hall on Spurs to give us more power & width because i'm not convinced that their full backs will cope with Varney's pace & aerial power.

Let's all get behind Neil & the boys & ramp up the volume next week bcuz this could be our year

21/1/2013 02:00:13 pm

I was thinking about a joke, by the ex world snooker champ, Denis Taylor. It´s about a guy looking for his long lost friend, Neilly Dunn. After being told he was in a toilet the guy goes in and asks at a cubicle " Are you Neilly Dunn?" The reply, "Yes, but I don´t have any toilet paper" On the subject of crap, I think that is what supporters have had to listen to and watch for way too long. How can Ken Bates, a person with no history in the club, and from what I remember didn´t even like us, end up negotiating a position as president? How can GFH say Warnock staying was part of the deal? A legend, if I am not mistaken, was one of the adjectives used to describe him.Maybe GFH said too much too soon, now it would look bad firing a man they called a legend just a few weeks ago. A similar situation to Neilly playing Peltier out of position, because he chose him as captain.I have been living in Mexico since 1999. Ten years ago kids here knew who Leeds Utd were, we were on TV etc.. today if you tell kids your team is Leeds, they say, Who? never heard of them.Stores are full of Chelsea, Man Utd, Arsenal, Liverpool shirts, Mexican players like (wee pea) Hernandez at Man Utd are heroes.Leeds can and will be back some day, but not until people in GFH wake up, see what can be, fire Warnock and bring in a young manager with new ideas and give him the cash to spend,it´s not too late to save this season, we could be back in the Premier league next year, 35,000 every game, live on TV worldwide, kids talking about Leeds, think of the money that could be generated, but only with a vision for the future, Don Revie had a vision, Wilko also. So my question to GFH, Ken Bates, Neil Warnock etc... is. Are you Neilly Dunn?
