By Steve Barras![]() This fourth instalment of The Future’s bright takes a look at the games featuring both the Development Squad and the Under 18’s during November. The Development Squad started the month with a tie against Derby County. The Whites beat The Rams 5-0 with a standout performance from loanee Ryan Hall. The winger scored the first four in the romp that saw Neil Redfearn declare the performance as outstanding. Redfearn also praised Patrick Kisnorbo for the contribution he is making in young Monty Gimpel’s development. Chris Dawson was the other scorer against a strong Derby side. The Leeds side featured ten players that are yet to feature in the senior side and another hour for Paul Green as he aims to return from injury. Zac Thompson and Dominic Poleon have had their loans extended at Bury. Both players have been with the League 1 strugglers for a month and are set to stay there until January 3rd. Thompson has made five appearances, scoring one goal but also picking up a red card whilst Poleon has made eight appearances, scoring two goals. Dominic Poleon was recalled to Leeds 24 hours after this initial announcement. Ross McCormack took his first steps on the road to recovery as Leeds entertained Crewe Alexandra at Thorp Arch. The game finished in a seven goal thriller in favour of the visitors with McCormack completing the first thirty minutes. Crewe were two goals to the good at half time and Patrick Antelmi halved the deficit shortly after the restart. Crewe had restored their two goal advantage before Charlie Taylor struck from distance to make it 3-2. Crewe made it 4-2 before Chris Dawson set up a tense finale making it 4-3 with the aid of the post. Nathan and Lewis Turner have left the club to move out on loan. The twins have featured regularly in the Development Squad this season and with the Development leagues taking a winter break they have taken the opportunity to enjoy competitive football in the Blue Square Northern Division. Lewis is with Harrogate Town and Nathan has moved to second placed Chester FC. Leeds beat The Rams 4-2 after a storming second half comeback. The youngsters were 2-1 down at half time after Luke Parkin gave Leeds the lead, Lewis Walters could have taken the sides in level had the Derby keeper pulled off a fantastic save. Walters was not to be denied in the second half however as Leedsscored three goals in fifteen minutes to secure the win. Walters, a second for Parkin and captain Alex Mowatt rounded off the scoring. There was also praise for yet another stand out performance at the centre of defence for Afalobi Coker. Following this game it was announced that Leeds u18’s had been drawn away at Watford for the FA Youth Cup on the 28th November. The u18’s second game of the month was against Crewe Alexandra and they managed to record a 2-1 victory that left them at the summit of their league table. Eoghan Stokes and Kalvin Phillips were the scorers. Leeds scored four past Watford without reply as our u18’s progressed to the next round of the FA Youth Cup. Luke Parkin scored twice and further goals from Alex Mowatt and Lewis Walters capped an outstanding performance.
