Where to start is probably the hardest part. Being 4-1 up against Preston and then seeing Parkin rip up the defence and his team end up 6-4 winners. I remember making a sign to a Preston fan then remember getting a sign back at Full Timeline. Being a Leeds fan had always had it's moments when we walk away with 'eh' still bumping around in our heads. That was one of those games and we thought, oh misguided ones it can't get worse well it did.
I remember thinking the Nottingham Forest game was going to be a good one, both teams going for a chance for the top six and when we went one up I thought this might be a very good win if we carry on, only to find us 3-1 down then in a amazing few minutes 3-3, two goals flew in with even Michael Brown amongst the goals. Alas four more goals were to go into the Leeds goal and the 3-7 scoreboard will haunt me until I'm not able to visit the Theatre of Hope. It was a bad day.
Two games mentioned but they were eclipsed by the hammering by an Italian imported Watford side. They mauled us after Jason Pearce saw red and then in a inspired 'Colin' substitution saw Leeds reduced to nine men when Rudy Austin collapsed in the second half and be carried off. Watford sensing blood tore through the Leeds defence at every opportunity, finally the whistle saved Leeds from further embarrassment, even though 6-1 was enough to send the most ardent fan back home with a tear in his eyes. Yes it was that bad.
We move forward to today to one of the worst displays I've witnessed in all my years as a fan. Since 1974 I've followed, cried and spent a lot of money following a team I call my 'mistress' because even though she might let you down and you her, you still return 'glassy eyed' ready for more.
I call it as it is whether I upset people or not. It's my opinion and it counts. Dear Billy, John, Gary and Don must be wondering what has happened to the club they loved. Captainless, because the man with the band is not doing his job and should most definitely be dropped and only Jason Pearce and Ross came out of this (Sheffield) game with any credit. The rest will again shamelessly pick up another fat cheque for little effort. You should all be ashamed of taking the money under false pretences!.
The manager is not without his critics, sending out a team that looked clueless in the jobs they were asked to do. With the players at his disposal a simple 4-4-2 would at least given the players an understanding of their roles. This week had been positive with backing from the board, he got in what he said he needed only to spoil it with his selection and tactics.
Leeds fans deserve better, I'll say it till I'm white, yellow and blue in the face and it's about time the players start showing that at the very least they give the supporters 100% effort in every ninety minutes of football. Not as I said before when it bloody suits them!.
Time Mr McDermott to change from being Mr Nice to Mr Nasty, even if it's not your usual style before the support you so definitely still have starts to ebb away because of your players lack of efforts.
On On On.
