It's back! Well, preseason is.
A lot has changed since I signed off with my last diary; our Head Coach departed to Middlesbrough in somewhat annoying terms, a player who refused to play in the last game against Wigan Athletic gone to the six-fingered ones over the Pennines and the Theatre of Hope and Dreams (and many dramas) is in the hands of the new owner of the club Andrea Radrizzani. It's never quiet in Leedsville!
What has gone let's now draw a line under and look forward to the coming season. A new HC in Thomas Christiansen with him a new back room staff, added to at the weekend by Paul Butler (not the former centre half from the Blackwell days) he comes from Doncaster Rovers and just for once the round pegs are fitting where they should.
Only a few square one's remain and very soon and I presume they will move on from the club, naming no names.
Two early games isn't much to give pointers but in both games the teams (one in each half of games) have acquitted themselves well and lot fit and ready for the forthcoming 2017/18 season.
A few player's at least have caught my eye; Lee Erwin who has returned from a good goalscoring season with Oldham Athletic look lean and has scored three goals already. Stuart Dallas (have you ever seen sweeter goals preseason?) and at the back Pontus is just being Pontus, with the new keeper Weidwald playing the ball out via feet, a concept rarely seen by a goalkeeper in a Leeds top.
Both games were won pretty easily, 4-2 when Harrogate Town and Guiseley AFC beaten impressively 5-1 at Nethermoor Park.
With at least two more rumoured to be joining the squad in the next few days, one being Samuel Saiz who has been heavily linked for most of the summer and a host of others being mentioned, I'm more than hopeful of a successful season.
It's very early I hear you say and your so right but we seem to be moving together in the right direction and that can't be bad for a start. Onwards and Upwards!
