On Monday the Leeds United fan community lost another happy and bright young Leeds fan. The tragic news of Skye Thompson's passing has been a harrowing story that we have all seen in the news.
It's with this news that Skye's family have asked Leeds United fans who attend tomorrow's match at home against Blackburn Rovers to give her a minutes applause on the 17th minute to remember her in a way that she would have loved.
Below is a short statement that her Uncle Scott has prepared to let you know a little more about Skye.
Tragically Skye lost her life unexpectedly last Friday, after suffering a bleed on the brain while home alone. Skye being the incredibly strong girl she was clung on to life for as long as possible allowing for masses of family and friends to visit her and say their goodbyes.
Although Skye's death is a devastating tragedy, their is some comfort for the family in knowing that as of Saturday evening Skye's amazing act of organ donation as given the gift of life to 4 young individuals already.
Being the Leeds UNITED mad girl she was, I (her uncle) have been trying to organise a spontaneous minutes applause against Blackburn on the 17th minute. Which from the phenomenal reaction on social media and local media, I hope this will happen.
Although Skye's short but amazing life has been brought to an end, this is just the beginning for Skye's legacy through her organ donation.
Thank you, MOT
We thank Scott for his courage and hope that you will join in on the 17th minute as we say a final goodbye to Skye, who will always be remembered for the life she has now given to those four people and the love she had for the club we support.
