Leeds Ladies FC have announced that Mike Farnan has joined the club as their new Commercial Consultant, another massive step forward as the Phoenix continues to rise. Many people will recognise Mr Farnan as being part of the Together Leeds group who were interested in Leeds United during the recent takeover, and his involvement with The Phoenix can only be a positive thing for the club.

Leeds Ladies have made remarkable progress on and off the pitch so far this season, and have surely exceeded the most optimistic fans expectations. Only 7 months after being disbanded by Leeds United and having to start again, they currently lie 3rd in the league, 6 points off top with a game in hand and confidence to finish the job off. They are also on a run of 7 wins, have scored 32 and conceded 3, and are feared by everyone in the league.

It really is a testament to the club, players, staff and everyone behind the scenes that they have managed to achieve the unthinkable so far this season and help show everyone what being Leeds is all about. Mr Farnan will help the club to achieve the funding, sponsorship and commercial levels required to demonstrate sustainability and to meet the criteria required by FA Women’s Super League clubs.

Speaking exclusively with We All Love Leeds, Leeds Ladies Chairman Gary Cooper said:

"Having dealt with Mike previously as LUST chairman and having had several chats about his experience/interests etc, when it was clear the Ladies would need to stand alone I approached Mike for guidance and advice on the commercial aspect of our plans.

We spoke many times over the first three months and I found all of his advice to be bloody bang on the money, everything he suggested worked. So I asked if he would be interested in helping us in a formal capacity with the larger sponsorship deals we would need to bring in to help us put ourselves financially in the WSL model and criteria range, he agreed and were very happy to have him."
