With the transfer window set to slam shut on Thursday, Leeds could be set to conclude some business ahead of the deadline. With Chris Wood departing the club last week, Leeds have been left short up with plenty of money to spare to secure a new leading man. The recent signing of Jay Roy Grot and the superb form of Kemar Roofe show that Leeds needn't worry for the here and now but should another injury like the one of Caleb Ekuban's, the Whites could be in severe trouble. Recent news suggests that Southampton striker Shane Long has been told he is no longer needed at St Mary's and a move away from the club could materialise prior to the window closing. The 30-year old has seen his stardom fall while at Southampton but was a very talented forward prior to his £12million move from Hull City.
Known for his pace and eye for goal, Long could be the perfect man to propel Leeds to the promised land of Premier League football should he take the step down to England's second division. Long has been predominantly a top flight striker but having fallen on hard times, a move to an established Championship side with a strong fanbase and money to burn could be the perfect opportunity for him to revive his career. Leeds have shown in recent games that their strength is in a striker that can play between the lines and make runs to allow players like Saiz to push Leeds forward. The Ireland international could be an inspired signing at Leeds and would be a real statement of intent ahead of Thursdays market closing. Would you like Long to sign? Or do you have another player in mind? Have your say in the comments below. By Ryan Ingham

Is the Hamburger striker not the perfect deal. Only 50.000 pounds a week and his mother as a bonus.

Shane Long ... perfect fit, plus he has plenty of pace, ability, and experience to pass onto the rest of a young squad.

Long or Deeney was our consensus from the cheap seats last week.
