Leeds United: Now we're sucking diesel

As they say over here in Ireland "Now we're sucking diesel". Ken Bates's tenure as chairman comes to an end, Salah Nooruddin takes over the reigns and already the purse strings are loosened with the impending arrival of a million pound player on the day the transfer window officially opens. No that is not a typo, Leeds United are about to spend 1 million pounds to complete the signing of much sought after Crewe Alexandra captain Luke Murphy.

As I write this it is rumoured that a deal has been brokered and Murphy is undergoing a medical prior to completing the formalities. If this pans out and Murphy does sign it certainly shows GFH's intention of putting their money where their mouths are and backing B-Mac. As fans this is what we've all been waiting for. Real investment in the squad. A lot has been written lately, by myself included, about the new Boards lack of investment since the takeover but this impending signing is the proof needed that GFH are serious about moving the club forward and striving for promotion. So credit where it is due if this deal does go through.

So what do we know about Luke Murphy? The 23 year old is likened to Frank Lampard and comes from the famed Crewe Academy which has already given the world, Danny Murphy, David Platt, Geoff Thomas and Neil Lennon to name just a few. He has made 186 appearences for Crewe, helped them to promotion to League One, has scored 25 goals and was named on the League One team of the year last season as well as Crewe's player of the season.

This is the type of signing that we are looking for, a young up and coming star with oodles of potential to add to the array of rising young talent from our own academy. With Noel Hunt's arrival also imminent and Matt Smith already signed up B-Mac is beginning to assemble his own squad and I've no doubt a few more will arrive before the Kick Off on the 3rd of August now that some of the deadwood have come to the end of their contracts.

Maybe the summer and the new season won't be so bad after all and the future for Leeds might be bright after all.

MOT Leeds Leeds Leeds.

Best news yet we are still getting those mealy mouth skeptics, who I believe are not true supporters and most probably have never seen the inside of Elland Road. My advice, ignore these ignorant pillocks and get behind the team.

Eureka!!!
But it does nark me when some supporters demand to know what we, as a club have to spend.
Why would the manager disclose such sensitive information. All this would succeed in achieving is alerting parasites like Barry Fry to the fact, and if indeed Leeds were seriously interested in Tommy Rowe his valuation would significantly increase.
So, all I can say is, well done Brian and the board and please continue to keep the cards close to your chest and lets hope you succeed in being at the right end of another steal soon.

He's nothing like Frank Lampard! He's a slim, tall, deep-lying playmaker whose best attribute is his range of passing.

Murphy will pull the strings from midfield, can shoot from long range, and take dead balls. He can ghost past players in the middle of the park and he is inteligent and technically excellent.

He has good upper body strength and is an on-pitch leader with an excellent professional ethic.

He'll be a good signing, but if you want to know what type of players he is, he's probably more akin to someone like Xavi Alonso than Frank Lampard.

Frank Lampard was in his hey day a good grafter at best but Xavi and Tony Currie, John Giles are totally different class in MF General jobs so here's to it.

Paul you really are pathetic, all you do is come on here in a bid to wind up fellow whites fans... Seriously what is your problem. There nothing wrong with difference of opinion and a point of view, but you always turn it into abusive language and personal insults... I'm sure you just do it for attention, yet another good article been overshadowed by you trying to get people to bite again.. If you really are a Leeds fan - Shame on you. Everyone else should just ignore the pleb

because these sites are all full of self centred gob shites like you who think you know everything about the club and everyone at it, and know every player we are buying etc, so get of your high horse and fuck off you prick, the articles writeen on here are bs and basically copies of what everyone else writes on newsnow so nothing original and always appear after everyone elses just so max copying can be done

"self centred gob shites like you who think you know everything about the club and everyone at it".. perfect decription of yourself there Paul.. What makes you think everyone wants to listen to your negative bs.. If you don't like actual fans enjoying discussing their thoughts on things Leeds then don't come on a Leeds fans site... Firstly Paul, I would like to point out that the fans who write and comment on this site are passionate fans who love Leeds and enjoy discussing each others views - They are not self centred, nor are they gobshites such as yourself (as you so eloquently put).

Secondly, nothing on this site is copied from any other on this site, not sure how you can suggest that when posts on here are clearly opinions and views from the writers (or self centred gobshites if you prefer).

There is no problem with you expressing your views on here, but there is no need for the language used nor your obsession with criticising everybody else who dares to have a view, a view which they are entitled to.

All there is left to say is this site is written and run by fans for fans enabling "fans" to read and discuss our articles, which we try to encourage everyone to do. This is something that for some reason clearly annoys you, so all I can suggest is that you no longer waste your time on here and waste everyone elses who actually wants to participate.

Finally, any future comments that are posted by yourself using inappropriate language or is abusive to any other contributer will be removed.

Apologies to everyone else. MOT

Thank you Andy, well put! The views of the fans (writers and in the comments section) are exactly what makes this site so good. It's a shame that for some reason it's attracted someone like Paul, but I guess it can't be helped (those Norwich fans are everywhere!). Healthy banter and discussion is one thing, but his comments were completely out of order and unnecessary. Bye bye! It was handled perfectly however. Great article too Mike, thanks ...keep up the good work! Hopefully we'll all be reading plenty of good news stories on here this season. In B-Mac we trust! MOT
