Leeds United have confirmed the signing of Finnish defender Aapo Halme.
The 19 year old centre back joins the club for an undisclosed fee and is set to join up the development squad. However, the club have stated that he could feature in the first team picture in the coming months. The young Fin has been heavily linked with a move to the Whites since last September, with even ourselves covering the original story here. Although Halme is still at a young age, the youngster has been a mainstay for Finnish side HJK Helsinki in the past two years having made 17 appearances during Helsinki’s title winning season in 2017. The talented 6’4 youngster joined the Finnish champions from Finnish youth setup F.C. Honka who are renowned for their extensive youth programme sporting over 1000 hopefuls spread across various age groups. Whether Halme will feature this season is unknown, but a lot is expected from the youngster as Leeds continue to monopolise their youth setup in search of a new star, hopefully Halme is one of them.
