The season may have been over but the addition of Ryan Edmondson on Sunday was a clear indication Leeds are expecting big things.
Paul Heckingbottom spoke on Edmondson in his post match press conference stating that he believed the youngster has a bright future and that he was a clear choice to be given an opportunity.
However, the decision to take Edmondson ndson from the youth ranks and give him his senior debut means we may not have seen the last of the youngster.
Edmondson pipped a foray of young forwards currently performing well in Leeds academy including Sam Dalby, Adrian Balboa and Kun Temenuzhkov, Oliver Sarkic and Jack Clarke.
Each of these youngsters have at least two years on the 16 year old Edmundson but the January signing from York City has jumped ahead in the queue after some stellar displays for both the Under18’s and Under23’s.
As many fans will have seen on Sunday, the young forward is a big imposing striker who can knock a man clear on his a*** as he did with Darnell Firlong. Edmondson also showed great composure when the ball fell to him in the box and could have been gifted a dream debut goal had a QPR defender not jumped in front of the ball.
With the Head Coach thinking highly of him and a trip to Myanmar already underway, it’d be fair to say we haven’t seen the last of Edmonson and a potential youth addition to next seasons squad.
