After what has not been an easy few day post Christmas (two defeats), Leeds got back to winning ways with a 1-0 victory over Bolton on New Year's Day.
The performance albeit with a virus (the manager now also joining the sick parade) running through the club was less than impressive for the twenty two thousand watching. It was a pretty poor spectacle to be honest.
It's rumoured two transfer targets Leeds tried to sign have been rebuffed by their clubs, Alan Tate's loan spell though has been extended until the end of the month. A few other names have been mentioned but as of Wednesday nobody has signed. The latest mentioned was Dexter Blackstock, but this was not confirmed by his new manager Alex McCliesh. Leeds fans will be wanting to see how serious GFH are in their support of Neil Warnock.
It will be interesting to see how serious the manager considers the cup and I'm thinking the likes of Ryan Hall, Dominic Poleon and Davide Somma may get some game time. Jamie Ashdown got the jersey in the Capital One Cup so he could also start.
A home draw is a great way to progress and hopefully draw another Premiership side in the next round providing we can get past Birmingham, who beat us earlier in the season 1-0 with a goal from Leroy Lita. The midlands club have struggled surprisingly this season and their manager, ex Huddersfield Town boss will be looking over his shoulder if results do not improve soon.
I'd like another cup run so I'm going for a Leeds win
Prediction: Leeds 2 Birmingham 1
If Green plays it's worth putting a few quid on him as he's done well in matches recently, so him and Somma to get the goals.
