Latest rumours suggest that Leeds are interested in Newcastle forward Dwight Gayle. The talented striker has not yet been made available by manager Rafa Benitez but it does seem that with the signing of Joselu, the player has fallen down the pecking order. With Leeds losing last seasons 30 goal striker Chris Wood it is only natural for the media to link an out of favour forward with a big money move to Championship challengers Leeds. Gayle, who had an impressive Championship season last term scoring 23 in 34 appearances in his first season for the Magpies.
However, if Gayle is not in the plans of Benitez, it's likely that he will push for a move away from the club in order to avoid the same fate he suffered at Crystal Palace. The former Non-League striker is a deadly asset in front of goal and would be the perfect signing for Leeds, offering pace and power along with the ability to play as a sole striker or feeding off a striking partner. Although a deal for the 27-year old seems unlikely, signing Gayle would be a real statement of intent by Leeds and Thomas Christiansen's squad would look far stronger with his addition. With Fulham hot on his tail, should Leeds move quick to sign Gayle? Or is he too expensive for the club? Have your say in the comments below. By Ryan Ingham

To me it's a no brainer. To progress in this league and move onto the next level we need a forward with both pace and an eye for the goal. Gayle as it all

I don't think the new regime will throw big money at any one signing, but if Lasogga comes good then who knows??

I'm a great fan of Gayle but not at £15m price tag - use all Wood windfall on a player immediately deemed below premiership standard by NUFC? - surely not!

To Expensive if Gayle is that good why he haven't made the Newcastle team - leave well alone IMO Leeds have the right people in place to manage. Pawel C would be a good addition to the squad

I say sign him, he's quality, and quantity all in one, we need to set our sights on auto promo, and to get us there we need calibre like this, but not to fall into playing lone striker and be reliant on one, play as a team, gel well and win win win.... MOT
