When news broke last Wednesday that Rob Green had pulled out of contention for the visit of Port Vale, many fans had the same idea.
It's been highly expected since the addition of Felix Wiedwald that the stopper may look to other avenues if not considered to be Thomas Christiansen's first choice at No.1. However, Green has not seemed to force a move away from the club and does seem in TC's plans with the head coach hoping for a battle for the No.1 spot between the former England stopper and the incoming German. At 37-years old it's safe to say that Green is coming to the end of a very long and successful career even for a keeper. At this stage in his career and after the spectacular season he enjoyed at Leeds last year, there's no way he'd want to play second fiddle to an incoming keeper. The question remained did he have the fight? And although it seemed peculiar to pull up injured Green is now in contention for tonight's match against Fulham, which will surely be a tough fixture against a team that narrowly beat us to a playoff birth last season. Green would always be my first choice in a Leeds shirt, last season he was a standout player in a team full of performers and I'd like to see him once again grace that Leeds jersey and command that defence like we all know he can do. It's remained to be seen whether Green will start or depart for Leeds but surely there's the opportunity for one hell of a fight to be had over the season. Who's your preferred no.1? Got to be green back in goals for me, as a former semi-pro GK myself he's been a great role model for young GK's coming through, and as he proved last season, he's still bloody got it! Need the experience commanding the back with the Young squad members!

I think Rob Green should be the Number goalkeeper,at Leeds United the young German keeper needs to learn from Green what it takes to become a world class keeper like Rob Green.
