Name: Shaun Harris
Tell us a bit about yourself:
I’m a 22 year-old Sports Coaching Degree student and currently on the Youth Team coaching staff of North Ferriby United who play in the Northern Premier League. I also write in the Yorkshire Evening Post for the Jury Section.
How long have you supported Leeds? 15 years
What is your favourite memory?
I have few (not to be greedy ha-ha). The Champions League run through to the Semi-Finals, Defeating Manchester United 1-0 in the FA Cup or securing promotion to the Championship with that dramatic 2-1 victory over Bristol Rovers.
Favourite player past and present?
Past would have to be either Eddie Gray, from the videos I’ve seen of him, he had immense skill and talent or probably Lucas Radebe for his sheer passion for the club.
My current favourite would probably have to be Sam Byram. Despite being so young Sam has shown maturity beyond his years and will go on to be a future star for Leeds United.
If you could bring one player from any era back to the club, who would it be and why?
Lucas Radebe for the passion he gave for Leeds United week in week out and the relationship he had with the Leeds supporters made it easy for everybody.
Best goal scored by a Leeds player?
The best goal I’ve probably seen in person would have to be Gary Kelly’s volley against Wigan Athletic in an FA Cup clash back in 2005. Other goals could be Beckford against Manchester United, just because it was against them or Robert Snodgrass away to Leicester with a hard hit volley from a tight angle.
How would you sum up our season so far?
The season started brightly with a win over Wolves and a battling draw against Blackburn but until the last three games the club has struggled in the league. Hopefully now the takeover of the club by GFH
Capital and the turnaround of league form will hopefully start to see Leeds move back up the Championship table. A major highlight has been the club’s run in the Capital One Cup.
Which player has impressed you most this season?
Sam Byram has really impressed me in his debut season whilst Paul Green and David Norris have given the midfield some real fight and battle, whilst the experience of El-Hadji Diouf has been vital for Leeds this season.
How would you describe our current team?
Players with great potential, we just need to see that potential come through a lot more to see Leeds back in the Premier League.
What do you think of our two latest additions Alan Tate and Jerome Thomas?
I feel both players have offered Neil Warnock different options. Tate has shown real class at the back for Leeds and has helped Tom Lees as the club have stopped leaking goals due to his experience from this division with Swansea City. Whilst Thomas has given the attack a fresh injection of pace which has being missing in the midfield since Max Gradel departed the club last summer.
Who would you like to see us sign in January?
I would like us to try and keep Alan Tate at the club and I hope that GFH Capital provide Neil Warnock the funds to purchase a couple of top quality players who will hopefully help Leeds secure
Where do you think we will finish this season?
Depending on who we purchase and how our form is, I don’t see why we can’t finish in the top 6 come May.
What's your view on Neil Warnock’s time at Leeds so far?
It’s being tough for Warnock after taking over last season with the club down and out, I’m sure Neil was
hoping for better things this season but with a poor run of form and the on-going takeover saga it hadn’t gone to plan but now with new owners and a mini run of form maybe now Neil will get what he wants from Leeds United.
Which game are you most looking forward to this season?
With being from Hull, I always like that clash and I hope we can make amends from the 3-2 home defeat earlier in the campaign.
We’ve had some fantastic results against Crystal Palace, Leicester and Huddersfield. Do you think we can keep this current run of form going?
We’ve shown a lot of desire and spirit in these last three matches which has seen us claim the three points and if we can carry that on then anything is possible when it’s Leeds United.
Score prediction for the Derby and Ipswich games?
Derby will be a tough encounter as our record recently at Pride Park isn’t the greatest and I’d personally be happy with a 1-1 draw here but I feel we have enough strength in the squad to defeat Ipswich by at least 2-0 the following weekend.
What team would you put out on Saturday?
I’d personally keep the same side that defeated Huddersfield last time out. There’s no point in upsetting the rhythm the current starting eleven have started to put together.
Anything else you would like to add?
Just let’s all get behind Neil Warnock, the players and the new owners and hopefully by May time we're all celebrating promotion back to the Premier League.
