Name: Jamie Taylor
Tell us a bit about yourself: I’m 37 years old, married, with two wonderful sons and originate from LS6/LS4 but live on the outskirts nowadays. I work in IT but my family also have their own business too.
How long have you supported Leeds? Blindly since 1981-82
What is your favourite memory?
It’s probably a split between Strachan’s goal in 89-90 against Leicester at ER; I was in the South Stand and it was bedlam – that goal and what was riding on it was brilliant. The other one is probably Viduka’s 4 goals against Liverpool; a brilliant display of finishing and individual class.
Favourite player past and present?
Past; that I’ve seen in the flesh, is probably Gary Mac, what we could now do with someone even half as good as him.
Now? Difficult really as we have very little quality, but I’d probably say Becchio, a bit of a cult hero, brave and has scored some
important goals in recent years during our demise, plus my eldest son loves the Luciano song!
If you could bring one player from any era back to the club, who would it be and why?
I’d have to say McAllister, because, although the Revie era was different class, most of them would be
suspended all the time now. McAllister would give us the class, vision and quality we clearly need.
Best goal scored by a Leeds player?
Yeboah’s volley against Liverpool or Beckford’s at Scum for what it stood for.
How would you sum up our season so far?
Average, limited, pedestrian and one dimensional…We have no pace, little quality and only play one way and some of our young brighter players must be allowed to express themselves. We won’t get
anywhere near the play offs with Warnock or this squad.
Which player has impressed you most this season?
Sam Byram by a mile…he’ll be off soon unless we improve.
The takeover is supposed to be close to completion, Do you think it’s going to happen? What difference do you think this would make to this season?
I think it will happen but only LUFC could drag it on this long. Will it make a difference…? We might sneak the play offs if we sign 5 or 6 very good players with pace and invention.
Warnock has stated his desire to bring in more players on loan, where do you think we need strengthening and who would you like to see come in?
Well, I wouldn’t give him the money to be honest. He’ll just buy big, strong warrior types and hoof it up to them. We need 1 new full back, 1 centre back, 2-3 new wide players with pace and a cultured player in the middle of the park and 1 new forward. Who? Difficult to say as many won’t come, but Zaha from Palace, Whittingham from Cardiff and Burke from Birmingham.
How would you describe our current team?
Quite poor, no pace, vision or culture. Workmanlike with bags of desire but we don’t play the ball around and are too easy to exploit. We lack pace at the back and don’t get behind teams. An average Championship side; well done Neil.
We’ve had quite a poor run of results of late, where do you think we are going wrong?
See the last answer. We’ll continue to be awful until money is available and we have a manager that is
tactically astute and brings speed to the team.
Where do you think we will finish this season?
As it is, about 16th. With investment, perhaps 6th to 9th.
Which game are you most looking forward to this season?
Huddersfield & The Wendies at home.
Score prediction for the Watford and Millwall games?
Watford, we’ll lose 2-1. Millwall, on TV, we’ll draw 1-1.
What team would you put out on Saturday?
Kenny, Byram, Lees, Pearce, Drury, Hall, Green, Austin, White, Becchio, Poleon (if possible!) if not, Diouf. We have very little options.
Anything else you would like to add?
This takeover has been laughable, we all know that and our club is a laughing stock right now which hurts. Teams are loving playing us right now and good luck to them beating one of the worst Leeds
sides in history. I hope the masses come back when Bates leaves as the majority don’t go because of
him. If it doesn’t happen, I could see us going back down like the Wendies did.
