Sensational news hit Twitter today as YEP journalist Phil Hay confirmed that the fans group Leeds Fans United have reached an agreement in principle to purchase Massimo Cellino's controlling stake in Leeds United.
Twitter is a roar with the news that Dylan Thwaites and co could soon be taking over the club that they have strived to be a part of since a meeting in December saw fans come together with one thing in mind, fan ownership of Leeds United. Cellino confirmed to Radio Leeds that he would be more than happy to sell to the fan owned group if they 'had the best interests of the club at heart'. The news comes after a meeting was held between Cellino and LFU today to talk about the best way to tackle the current issue with the clubs games being exploited by Sky. It turns out that the growing tension and task of the job at Elland Road could have been too much for the Italian, forcing the group of one dubbed 'White Knights' to come in and offer fresh hope of bringing Leeds back to the big time. Having worked closely with Leeds Fans United for many months I can honestly confirm that they have nothing but the clubs best interest at heart and will work day and night to set the club on the right path, something I've seen Dylan do. As a Leeds fan all I can say is congratulations to LFU, the work they have put in to get this far has been none stop and none profit. This really could be the time that life as Leeds fans turns around and the feel good factor returns to Elland Road. By Ryan Ingham

Sorry Ryan but I can't help but feel worried, do they have the funds or backing to take us forward?

This is just pie in the Sky, without Cellino or a buyer Leeds are doomed. Where does the money come from now, who will deal with all the current debt and court cases against the company, who will, invest in the squad for survival right now, why would anyone pay all that money for a name, a load of debt and some crappy players. Not even a ground. The fans trust would need very wealthy backers. Leeds United may not exist in 12 months if Cellino goes without finding a buyer.

Reading Adam Pope's comments, the group have members with big money and other backers they can call on.
