In one of the most peculiar news stories that has hit Leeds since Massimo Cellino's reign of the watermelons, Leeds striker Souleymane Doukara has been banned for 8 matches by the FA. The strangeness in the story is that his ban relates to an alleged bite that happened against Fulham. Doukara is probably foaming at the mouth due to the charge (I suspect rabies) that will practically finish his season. The only game that Doukara can now feature is the final game of the season away at Preston North End. However, it seems unlikely he will feature for the club until next season unless there are some serious injuries.
The biting issue could soon turn to the kiss of death for the Dukes career in Leeds. With a squad overhaul looking extremely likely this summer along with the possibility of a new manager in charge, Doukara could soon lose his place within the squad. Although he was seen as a bad signing at the beginning of his career at Elland Road, Doukara has since gone on to create a name for himself at the club and has even won over a lot of fans, who doubted he was good enough to play at this standard. The 24-year old had plenty to do in the winning run that picked Leeds season back up in January, scoring an impressive 4 goals in 5 appearances in the calendar month. He may not be a 20-goal a season striker, but his versatility, ability to carry the ball and hold up play has really shown this season and if he has a coach that believes in him this summer next season could be fantastic, if he stays. Now he has lost a lot of support due to this stupid error in judgement, the only way is up for the Frenchman. If he doesn't prove in the summer that he's playing for the shirt then he's facing an uncertain time at the club. If there's one thing Leeds fans have its a long memory and silly mistakes like this can really come back to bite him on the arse, or shoulder. By Ryan Ingham
