Simon Grayson on why Leeds’ usual playoff heartbreak “has to end sometime” and how to survive in them.

Andrea Radrizzani speaking on LUTV: “We felt a little bit down for a few days, because we could have achieved a better result with promotion to the Premier League. It's time now to not regret, to not look at the past and switch pages.
We must focus on the next game. We have the quality and we have the confidence to win against any team in this league so we will go into the play-off with the conviction that we can beat anyone.”
On the fans support: "The fans are important. But I think also it's up to us, the players and the club to deliver good results. This is the second year of my project. We are going in the right direction so we'll keep working and be ready against any adversity or any challenge.
We know where we want to go so I want to support the players and thank them because they have done their best, they really play fantastic football and they deserve probably more than what they get.”
Barcelona 3-0 Liverpool. Looks like the Merseysiders may have to concentrate on the Premiership title after all. A Messi masterclass!
Pablo Hernandez has completed more final third passes (808) than any other Championship player this season. He is also the only player to have created 100+ chances this season (114).
Statement from Leeds United about Patrick Bamford receiving a two match ban for “successful deception of a match official”
It read as follows: “Whilst Patrick Bamford did not deny the charge of successful deception of a match official following our Sky Bet Championship game against Aston Villa on Sunday, the club did request a hearing to contest the penalty imposed on the player.
“The club felt that given the circumstances surrounding the incident, including the extraordinary act of sportsmanship which saw our head coach Marcelo Bielsa demand our team to allow Aston Villa to score an uncontested equaliser, we could have a sensible discussion around the sanction.
“We acknowledge that the FA panel did not feel that to be reasonable and the club therefore joins Patrick in accepting the two-match ban. Bamford will miss our final game of the 2018/19 campaign away to Ipswich Town as well as the first leg of our Play-Off semi-final.”
EFL changes the expected order of playoff dates. Probably the best article ever written about Kalvin Phillips aka ‘The Yorkshire Pirlo’. Link below the article on a player who is ‘Leeds’ through and through. M

Paul Lambert: “I think they've got momentum," Lambert said of United's play-off preparations. They've got a manager who is relentless. Their team is really good, though I've not played against them. They've got a great fan base behind them. The manager, as I said before, looks relentless.
If we don't match them for desire then it will be a difficult game. They're one of the best teams in the league. They're in a really strong position. And if the Easter games went their way they'd be challenging Norwich and Sheffield United to get out.
We'll do everything we can to send our fans away with smiles on their faces, but Leeds United are favourites – let's not kid ourselves. They are higher than us in the league, they've won more games, they are a relentless team and they beat us at Elland Road pretty easy.”
Cardiff City are relegated to the Championship after their 3-1 defeat at home to Crystal Palace.
We’ve met before
Ipswich 1-0 Leeds January 2018
Ipswich 1-1 Leeds Feb. 2017
Ipswich 2-1 Leeds Jan. 2016
Ipswich 4-1 Leeds Dec. 2014
Ipswich 1-2 Leeds Aug. 2013
All Championship games.
Leeds finish off their regular season with a trip to East Anglia, a ground they don’t have a good record at. Their last win there was back in 2013
Marcelo Bielsa has doubts over Tyler Roberts and Stuart Dallas as Leeds try to get the point they need to guarantee third place in the Championship. Anything less than a draw could allow West Brom to get third place meaning that Leeds will face Aston Villa in the playoff semi final.
Whether Bielsa will be tempted to rest a few players is to be seen, Ryan Edmundson could at least get a place on the bench as could a few more of the under 23’s. Kemar Roofe is fit and may lead the line.
There will be the usual large amount of Leeds fans there to back the team and hopefully a win or at least a draw should be enough to send these superb supporters home happy. Leeds 3-1.
Kalvin Phillips voted YEP Player of the Year.
Liverpool leave it late to beat Newcastle United 3-2 at St James Park, they lead the Premier League by two points.

Roofe ‘fluffs’ his penalty opportunity. The third miss out of four recently awarded. 😞
Man of the Match: Mateusz Klich
Marcelo Bielsa: “Of course today’s performance is not a good one but we have the same ambition as the other teams who are going to play in the play-offs. We can’t say that ambition is linked to the taste you have from your last game, otherwise we would describe us as a team with few chances.
“For the remaining three games the most important thing is character and personality and you don’t build personality after one positive performance. You don’t lose it after one negative performance. Today’s performance is an accident. We’re going to forget it right now. From tomorrow we’ll be focused on the next game. I don’t ignore what happened but I know that our team is not described by this game or the result. I’m ashamed to say it.
“What made the difference between the game today and the average we’ve had over the whole season is that we contributed to the goals of the opponent in an exaggerated way. The mistakes were more evident but this is not a feature of our players. It’s an exception. The reason we haven't been directly promoted is because we missed many chances,”
Bielsa said. “One of the reasons we finished third and not lower is because of the quality of our defence.
“The new negative thing about this game is that usually we defend with strength and that was not the case today. I think that’s an exception but I have to admit it. The basis of our team is the defensive structure and if we hadn’t conceded the third goal we would be making a less critical analysis.”
Paul Lambert: "It was a brilliant win, a fantastic win, but I think that's what we have deserved with all the draws we've had and if we'd won another six, I don't think anyone would have begrudged it because we played that well.
It's only the last three games or so that the wind was taken out of our sails. I can't ask for anything more.”
Norwich win the Championship after their 2-1 win over Aston Villa. Derby County claim the last playoff place by beating WBA 3-1 at Pride Park.

David Watkins on the same problems that have blighted the team most of 2019. Loads of possession but not enough going in the ‘onion bag’ plus a cock up by Casilla.
Thank you David. Strap yourself into the Leeds United rollercoaster!
Heidi Haigh’s blog of her trip to Portman Road; Bamford ban, ‘that goal’ and her review of the game with Ipswich Town.
Thank you Heidi.
Leeds United under 23’s beat Birmingham City 4-2 on penalties to win Professional Development League title. The game ended 0-0 After Extra Time.
A superb effort by the young guns!
The end of the regular season and another defeat to a team that was already relegated and once again winless. A disturbing fact is that if Leeds had picked up points against teams that hadn’t won games for a while they would be contemplating what it was going to be like travelling to Anfield and the Emptihad.
They didn’t so Leeds will travel to ‘Frank Lampard’s’ Derby County for the first leg of the Championship Playoffs next Saturday. We can only hope that in six days the players can find the form that made them so admired in the first part of the season. If they don’t, they won’t progress to the Wembley final it’s as simple as that!
My belief has taken a bashing because I really don’t think the BELIEF the fans have is currently been shown by the players. It’s up to them now to prove that they are good enough and mentally strong enough to take this club up.
Over to you boys.
