David Watkins wanted a response after the draw with Luton. He certainly got one!
Thank you David. Hope the Saturday night malt went down a treat. My nerves are still there and a big week coming up.

Mateusz Klich on the victory at Blackburn: “It was a very important victory. If Blackburn had won, they could have potentially think about reaching the Play-Offs and we wanted to win as our goal is to win every game until the end of the season and not to look down on other teams.
“We knew it was going to be hard and the conditions weren’t great, so we were happy with the win.In this league, every team who scores early is happy, because it is so difficult to score a goal. Teams defend well and the first goal is very important in this league and it was good we scored early, because it was a tough game.
“We need to stay focused for the next five games and we will see what happens then.”
Pretty happy people after a great win at Ewood Park. Player’s singled out were the centre half partnership of Ben White and Liam Cooper, Barry Douglas looked very comfortable at left back and Mateusz Klich was instrumental in the middle of the park.
Great to see Patrick Bamford back amongst the goals after his miss on Tuesday, I was very impressed how he led the line and took his early chance superbly, he was also unlucky with his shot that came back off a post.
West Bromwich Albion beat Hull City 4-2 at The Hawthorns to move within a point of leaders Leeds. They could go top if they draw or beat Derby County on Wednesday. Swansea beat Sheffield Wednesday 2-1, ‘Colin’s’ first game at the Riverside ends with QPR getting a 1-0 win over Boro.
Liverpool move three points closer to the 100 mark as they beat relegation threatened Aston Villa 2-0 at Anfield. Mane and Jones the scorers. Newcastle draw 2-2 with West Ham, Burnley also draw 1–1 with Sheffield United and Manchester City lose 1-0 at Southampton with former Leeds transfer target Che Adams scoring his first goal for the ‘Saints’ and he’ll never forget it. A lob from over 45 yards.
Barry Douglas and Kalvin Phillips are named in the EFL Championship team of the weekend.
Andrea Radrizzani talking on Talk Sport about the prospect of fans returning to the grounds: "I think as soon as it's possible the stadium will be full again. I hope that the transition will be gradually done soon because I don't think it's necessary to shut clubs down completely in the stadium.
"There's no danger if you manage to have one-third of the people in the stadium or half of the people. I think with the right adjustments and precautions I think it is possible to have people in the stadium soon, hopefully."

Leeds United announce the arrival of Terry Venables as manager to replace the sacked David O’Leary. Didn’t work out !
Chairman Andrea Radrizzani has spoken of his pride at the news that the Premier League has awarded the Leeds United Academy a Category One status.
Following an audit undertaken earlier this season based on the club investment, facilities, resources, staffing and productivity, the Academy has now achieved the highest category available under Premier Leagues EPPP.
Radrizzani said to LUTV: “My ambition was to create a legacy at Leeds United when I bought the club and alongside my management team, we have been able to achieve our goal for the Academy quicker than we expected.
“I know how important Academy graduates are to Leeds United supporters, for decades we have brought through the likes of Paul Madeley, David Batty, Gary Speed, James Milner and of course Kalvin Phillips, just to name a few.
“Today’s announcement will help to ensure we can produce even more quality Academy players that we can all be proud of.”
As a result of the Category One status, Carlos Corberan’s Under-23 team will compete in the Premier League 2 next season, with the Under-18s featuring in the Premier League North. They will also compete in the JPT Trophy.
Marcelo Bielsa on Stoke: “Stoke are a creative team, their players have clear technical resources. They respect a common idea of play, but it’s obvious they have a very good impact individually.
“The offensive players of Stoke is one of the more positive points of the opponent. All of the characteristics which have impacted the team is linked with the impact of the manager of the team.
“The manager has enabled the players to show their characteristics and abilities. He has tried to make all of the players work collectively to show what they can do.”
Injuries, will Dallas and Costa be fit for Stoke: “Probably they will play, they have trained as normal. In case they are not able to play, Ezgjan Alioski and Barry Douglas will play.
“In this period of matches, we know that every team is going to need at least 15/16 players.
The important thing for us, is that when we have to do any substitution, the player who goes onto the pitch has a positive performance.
“This has been most important in the games Alioski, Douglas and Pablo Hernandez have done.”
The game at Swansea will still kick off at 13.30 despite Sky not televising the game. Leeds will play later than their rivals for the next four games. Did somebody say the EFL is corrupt?

Leeds United 5 Stoke City 0: Five-star Whites move six points clear in automatics with just four games left | Yorkshire Evening Post
Thanks to the YEP
Leeds MOTM: Helder Costa, important second goal and busy throughout.
Marcelo Bielsa: "It was difficult for us to impose ourselves in the first half, but the penalty helped us. After we scored early in the second half it made it easier for the rest of the match.
“Hernandez had a big impact on the pitch and he was very intelligent with the places he puts himse on the pitch, and his passes are very accurate. He's a player who makes a lot of impact. There are 12 points left(to play for)and the difference is important, but not definitive."
Stoke's Michael O'Neill: "We made it impossible for ourselves at times. We set out to make it difficult for them and we did that right up until half-time, and then it was a really poor challenge to give away the penalty. It was needless. Then it becomes very difficult. We conceded shortly after half-time and from there we're never getting back into the game.
"They were excellent, but these aren't the types of games that will decide whether we stay up. Leeds are a team that are a long way from where we are at the moment. So we've just got to make sure we're ready for the final four games."
David Watkins on a ‘very good day at the office’ can’t ask much more than a 5-0 win.
Thank you David. Four more games, 7 points maximum and your will finally have the title of the book you’ve waited for!
Fans were very happy with the superb 5-0 battering of Stoke City. Helder Costa was most people’s MOTM. Ben White, despite an early mishap strolled through the game and made a couple of ‘barnstorming’ runs during the game. Stuart Dallas also caught the eye after missing the Blackburn game.
Another superb 45 minutes plus from Pablo who scored a beauty and made one for captain Liam Cooper and Patrick Bamford scored one and was unlucky when a shot was blocked by a Stoke defender and another came back off the crossbar.
Liam Cooper on yesterday’s win: It was professional, it was us, it was our identity and the way we play, it was intense and we enjoyed it, who doesn’t enjoy those types of games?
“The pressure was on with West Brom and Brentford getting good results, so it was important we came out and played the right way. We’d be lying if we didn’t look at other results as it’s that stage of the season where everybody does, but we know what we need to do.
“We know we need to concentrate on ourselves and ourselves only and everything else will take care of itself. I thought we approached the game in an unbelievable way and we scored goals in important parts of the game.
“We created a lot of chances and we’ve managed to put a lot away which was nice. It takes so much pressure off the likes of Patrick Bamford and Tyler Roberts when the other lads are chipping in as well and we did that.
“It was nice to chip in with a goal, but I’m more pleased with the clean sheet and three points.
We look forward to Sunday now.”
Leeds’ game at Derby County will now be played 24hrs later on Sunday the 19th of July with a 14.00 kick off.
Fulham beat Cardiff City 2-0 at Craven Cottage to move within four points of second placed West Brom who play at Blackburn Rovers on Saturday.
West Brom draw 1-1 with Blackburn Rovers and move level on points with Leeds who stay top by a goal difference of one. Brentford continue to hang on to the coat tails of the top two, their 3-1 at Derby County was there seventh on the bounce and now are only three points behind them but Leeds have a game in hand.
The away game at Derby County has been chosen by Sky to televise with a kick off time of 14.00.
Steve Cooper has no new injury worries for the game with Leeds: “We have no fresh injuries from Wednesday, so we have come through unscathed. We have Jordon Garrick back from suspension, so he is available after missing the last few games.
“Obviously the long-term injuries for Rodon and Wilmot continue, so Jordon’s return is the only change (to the squad)."
Swansea v Leeds

Swansea City 0 Leeds United 1: Dramatic Pablo Hernandez winner sees Whites close in on Premier League football | Yorkshire Evening Post
Thanks to the YEP
The first win at Swansea since 1964. The season we were promoted.
Pablo Hernandez to BBC Radio Leeds: “I celebrated a lot because it is such an important goal... the three points are for everybody, the fans, the club but especially for Jack Charlton.
“He is part of the history of this club and I think these three points are for everybody and for the fans but especially for him and for his memory. I am sure he will help us in the next week's games from the sky and this win is for him."
Swansea's Steve Cooper: "I thought we were comfortable in the game and I'm really disappointed to lose like that. I think both teams were cautious in terms of attacking and defending and I would have just liked to have had a bit more of the ball in the second half.
"We would have liked to have picked up a point, but it wasn't as if anything was going to be decided today. It's probably going to go to the last game as most things are in the league. The dressing room is down of course and it's still raw, but the fire in the belly is still there to achieve and we'll be going to the end."
Marcelo Bielsa: "I can not enjoy this. What you feel just is that you are taking a step forward. The only thing I can enjoy is the last objective, if we get it. The match was very close, very narrow, few chances. When the match progressed our possibilities were growing and in the last 30 minutes I think we deserved to score and to make the difference.
"What we feel is taking the steps we have to take. But of course when you score at the end of the match it's a higher feeling. The bigger emotion we didn't get that yet."
A lovely tribute by the betting firm PADDYPOWER.
In a weekend that saw another Leeds legend join Don Revie in heaven. Jack Charlton like Norman Hunter was ‘Leeds’ through and through. A talented defender of the highest calibre and a World Cup winner with England in 1966.

Wonderful cartoon of Big Jack.
Thanks to the Yorkshire Post.
This season, our hundredth we have lost three ‘sons’ and their passing has saddened all who have Leeds United close to their hearts. They will watch over us for the last three games as we hope to get finally gain promotion to the Premiership.
It’s in our hands, four points needed, maybe three if Brentford don’t beat Preston on Wednesday. Thursday night can’t come quick enough for fans but Barnsley must be given as much respect as all the other teams we’ve played since the restart.
COME ON LEEDS!
