LEEDS officially announce the away shirt for 2019/20 season. It’s officially platinum and pink. My thoughts on it are below. It’s definitely started people talking and taken attention from the lack of incomings in Beeston.
Tyler Roberts models the new away strip.
Angus Kinnear says there may be “twists and turns” in the days up to the transfer window closing. Kinnear was a guest at Q and A in the Norman Hunter suite at Elland Road. He also said "This season is obviously very important. Firstly it's our centenary, 100 years of Leeds and we want to make it a season that's extra special. Across the summer the overriding mood to start with was one of deep disappointment, last season finished in a way none of us wanted to, but what I was impressed by was how Marcelo and the players immediately picked themselves up straight away and decided there was unfinished business to do and they were going to right the wrongs of last season.
There's a real confidence at Thorp Arch, they've worked harder than ever before, Marcelo is absolutely adamant that the players he's got are all going to be better than they were last season. He's expecting breakthrough seasons from some of our younger players, I think you'll see the likes of Jamie Shackleton and Jack Clarke really step up. We've seen Jack Harrison already in pre-season emerging as a real talent.
We have some new signings in Helder (Costa), who should be one of the best players in the league and I think a real hidden gem in Ben White at centre-half.
Also at the event was goalkeeper Kiko Casilla and he enjoys the chant that is sung about himself and Pablo Hernandez: "It's the best song of my career and it's the best motivation on the pitch.”
Kemar Roofe has been rumoured to be a target of Belgium club Anderlect. A fee of over 5 million has been mentioned, Roofe will be out for a month with an injury sustained on the Australian tour.
Bailey Peacock-Farrell joins Burnley for an ‘undisclosed fee’. After signing he posted this goodbye message.
Cheers BPF. Good luck at your new club.
Every word of Marcelo Bielsa’s pre Bristol City media meet.
Leeds United Under-23 midfielder Jordan Stevens charged by the FA with a breach of betting rules. Alleged to have placed 59 bets on games last season.
Luton Town and Middlesbrough start the 2019/20 Championship season with a six goal thriller at Kenilworth Road.
Mateusz Klich has great expectations of ‘very talented youngsters’ at the club, especially his fellow countryman Mateusz Bogusz. The Polish international has been impressed with the 17 year old in pre season. Klich said on Friday: “I’m sure he’s going to get some minutes this season because he looks great. He looked very good against Sydney, scored a goal. I hope for him he’ll get some minutes, the sooner the better for him.”

Bristol City 0-1 Leeds 9/3/2019
Leeds start their Championship season with a tough looking trip to Bristol City. Much has been said about both club’s summer recruitment, City paid 8 million for Chelsea defender Tomas Kalas whilst Leeds brought in Helder Costa but have sold nearly 30 million pounds worth of players including Jansson, Clarke(who has returned on loan) plus Peacock-Farrell yesterday.
Bristol City also had a player that left the club before the game, much sought after centre back Adam Webster joined Brighton for a record fee of around 20 million pounds.
Marcelo Bielsa has talked up the Leeds squad and insists that it is strong enough for the challenge ahead and only wants in players that would improve it. Time will tell if ‘El Loco’ is right about this with only days left until the transfer window shuts.
City aren’t the best starters, Leeds were last term and went unbeaten for a while with wins at Derby and last season’s champions Norwich City. It will have to been seen if the Playoff Semi Final defeat is totally out of the Leeds players system when they step out on Sunday. Draw 1-1.
First day wins for Fulham, Charlton, Birmingham, millwall, Sheffield Wednesday, QPR, Swansea, Hull City, Wigan, WBA.

Ryan Ingham reviews the superb first win of the 2019/20 season
Lee Johnson: "Sometimes you just have to hold your hands up and say they showed more quality than us on the day. I was disappointed with our composure and our start, but at the same time they were excellent. At half-time we managed to regroup a little bit and get going again, but that second goal was a bit of a sucker punch for us.
I thought we were honest and kept going. Obviously we lost a big player in Webster, but I thought Taylor Moore came in and did fantastically well."
Marcelo Bielsa: "We were in charge for the first 30 minutes in each half, but we gave them chances in the last 15 minutes of each half. If we had finished both halves better we could have created more chances.
It was important to win, playing away against a team that could be near the top of the table."
David Watkins very impressed by the efforts of all the players playing in the platinum and pink yesterday.
Mr Watkins was a lot more positive than me after the summer break and his positivity bore fruit yesterday. L
Yosuke Ideguchi has left Leeds to rejoin his former club Gamba Osaka. The midfielder spent 20 months at Elland Road but did not make one senior appearance for Leeds, he was on loan with Spanish side Culteral Leonesa and German Bundesliga 2 Greuther Furth during his stay. The fee is rumoured to be around £500,000.
