With Leeds looking to bolster their entire squad this summer, it's clear that one position that is in desperate need of additions is defence.
One player that has been linked with a potential move to Leeds is young Everton star Matthew Pennington. According to HITC, Leeds are currently rivalling Middlesbrough and Hull City for the permanent acquisition of the defender and what a signing he would be! The 22-year old is part of a group of players who have broke into the Everton first team including; Mason Holgate, Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Tom Davies. Unfortunately for Pennington, while the others are now integral parts of an Everton team, he's not had as much look. He has however been integral to the Everton development squad as they won the Premier Division 2 title last season. Academy coach David Unsworth has stated that Pennington is 'faultless' and that comes as high praise from the former Toffee player. Adapt at playing at either full back position, Pennington is most comfortable at centre half and would be a youthful and talented partner to accompany Pontus Jansson at the heart of Leeds' defence, whilst also providing cover should any injuries force any defender out of action. Signing this young toffee would not only be a great investment in a potential Premier League star, but would show how far Leeds have come since Andrea Radrizzani took the reigns at Leeds.
