On Friday it was announced that BBC Radio Leeds had been welcomed back to Elland Road for match commentary, the Leeds MD welcomed them back saying amongst other things that 'BBC and Leeds are great institutions.' After a five year gap the FM frequency of many a car radio will jump into life come Saturday and for midweek games for the people who can't get to as many games as they would like to.
My memories of Radio Leeds are fairly strong, I've been lucky to be on a few shows and I feel the sports team there are great journalists and will be a welcome addition to Thom Kirwin in the gantry high in the West stand. Radio Leeds of course along with Radio 5 live have been pivotal for fans before the Sky revolution came along and 'killed the radio star' and I still remember jumping up and down when Keith Edwards scored late on to grab the equaliser at Oldham in a Playoff semi final that eventually sent us to play Charlton in the final, another day when the radio kept the fans on the end of their seats.
So well done David Haigh and the new board for again continuing to change things at the club. Welcome back Radio Leeds we've missed you.
