![]() By Andrew Butterwick Jack Frost was alive and well as the Happy Chocker, Quiet One and yours truly gunned the car southwards for our last away day of 2014 at high flying Derby County. 2014 has been yet another "difficult" year of travels for the followers of the mighty whites where success has been as rare as a Pork Pie at a Bar Mitzvah. After our woeful showing against Wigan on Boxing Day we were conditioning ourselves for the worst. "I'd settle for winning a corner" was as much as I could rustle up in the optimistic stakes whilst HC was fearing a double figures defeat! It's fair to say that watching Leeds United this year has been difficult.

By Keith Ingham ![]() By Andrew Butterwick Boxing Day Football is a tradition that is indelibly woven into the fabric of English football and allows a much needed escape from the gastronomic and alcoholic excesses of Christmas day. Crowds are also boosted by the more casual type of fans making there one and only trip of the season to watch "their" team. These fans are easily unidentifiable though. They are usually wearing at least one of their Xmas presents, studying their ticket intently as they approach the turnstiles and more often than not can be heard pronouncing "I shan't be watching that rubbish again for a long time" as they leave the ground afterwards! ![]() By Andy Gregory Leeds Ladies FC have announced that Mike Farnan has joined the club as their new Commercial Consultant, another massive step forward as the Phoenix continues to rise. Many people will recognise Mr Farnan as being part of the Together Leeds group who were interested in Leeds United during the recent takeover, and his involvement with The Phoenix can only be a positive thing for the club. ![]() By Andrew Butterwick After battling through endless roadworks on the M1 and the Xmas shopping traffic in Nottingham we arrived at the Notts County bar just in time for some well earned pre match refreshments ahead of our teatime clash with Nottm Forest. With the exception of the remarkable result against Bournemouth our awaydays this term have been nothing short of excruciatingly painful so it was surprising to hear mainly positive vibes coming from the assembled army of Leeds fans awaiting the 5.15pm kick off. I suspect this had more to do with the copious amounts of alcohol consumed by the majority of fans during the afternoon rather than any true football logic. Funny how the Police often insist on a lunchtime kick off if they think there could be trouble at high profile games to reduce fan's drinking time but are quite happy to sanction tea time kick offs for big games just to suit the TV schedules? ![]() By Martin 'Badger' Chadwick Sunday 14th December saw Leeds Ladies FC host Mossely Hill in the final league game of 2014. It turned out to be quite an emotional day so I apologise in advance for the more personal than normal tone to this weeks match report. Its only been 7 months since news broke that Leeds United had decided to disband Leeds United Ladies FC and while on paper that seems a very small amount of time, In reality it feels like a lifetime away. ![]() By Andrew Butterwick Elland Road was in the grip of the first cold blast of the winter as the Happy Chocker, Quiet One and yours truly arrived for our clash with Ross McCormack's struggling Fulham side. Despite last week's dismal showing at Portman Road Redfearn decided to keep the same starting eleven as Leeds looked to maintain their decent home form in front of a very healthy crowd of 27,000 inside the Theatre of Hope. The main talking point during our pre match refreshments was how Pearce would cope with the undoubted danger posed by the Fulham front two of McCormack and Rodallega. Suddenly my natural optimism started to fade as memories of last week's powder puff "defending" came flooding back. |
