Leeds United faced off against a very resilient Nottingham Forest side who were determined to put the home side to the sword. To which a late goal salvaged a more than deserved point.
Marcelo Bielsa made three changes for the game with Nottingham Forest; Stuart Dallas, Pontus Jansson Adam Forshaw came into the starting eleven, Ezgjan Alioski moved to left wing with Dallas at left back. Samuel Siaz was surprisingly dropped to the bench. Before the game there was a minute silence for the ‘fallen’ but unfortunately it was ruined by a few fans in South Stand shouting ‘Scabs’ at the away section of the West Stand. It’s a shame when something as important as remembering those that gave their lives to protect our country are forgotten by some!

Keith Ingham spoke with Tony Martin ahead of Saturdays late clash with Nottingham Forest.
How long have you supported Nottingham Forest? 1965 What’s your favourite moment as a Forest fan. Season, game or anything other occasion. 77-78 season. We won the first division having been promoted the year before from the 2nd division. Tell us about a player that you were proud to have on the back of a shirt, if you didn’t is there one you wished you would have. John Robertson - absolute genius and our finest ever player. Leeds United look set to test their pulling power with a midsession move for Ibai Gomez.
The tricky winger has played under Bielsa before during his time at Athletic Bilbao and the pair could now be reunited if Leeds decide to follow up on their interest. Gomez currently plays for La Liga surprise package Alaves, who currently sit in third place after a stellar start to the season. The Spaniard currently has three goals and one assist in nine games for the Babazorros this campaign. However, the 28-year old looks set to leave in the summer with his current deal set to expire and no news on any pending negotiations. Leeds could potentially nab the player for next to nothing in January or agree a Bosnian transfer for next season, if they can beat out higher places competition for the Spaniard. Gomez would be a talented addition to the current wingers the club have at their disposal and with loanees Jack Harrison, Lewis Baker and Isaiah Brown all set to return in the summer; Leeds will need new signings planned in to replace them. Predominately a right sided winger, he can also play on the left or in an attacking midfield role; handing Leeds some much needed versatility in what is a very small squad. Could a move for Gomez be fruitful? Or should Leeds set their sights on targeting more domestic signings? Have your say in the comments below. By Ryan Ingham Leeds United went back to the top of the Championship thanks to a 2-0 win over bottom club Ipswich Town. Goals from Kemar🔥Roofe and Liam Cooper enough to send the struggling East Anglian’s to another defeat and pile more pressure on their new manager Paul Hurst. Marcelo Bielsa surprised many on how his team lined up, Berardi, Phillips and Cooper made a back three with Ayling and Alioski and wing backs. The midfield was Harrison, Klich, Hernandez and Siaz, Roofe restored to a central striking role. Phil Hay of the YEP said on Twitter it was set out in a 3-3-1-3 formation and I’m not going argue with the respected journalist! Leeds started well and with a little more composure could have been ahead early in the game, Alioski shooting a powerful shot that the Ipswich keeper got a glove to, Ipswich had a chance soon after when former Leeds loanee Matthew Pennington rose unmarked to head the ball into the waiting hands of Peacock-Farrell. Leeds went ahead in the twenty second minute, Klich found Siaz, the little Spaniard made space for himself before passing the ball to Hernandez who found the head of Roofe with a delightful cross field ball. Leeds 1-0 at the break. Kemar🔥Roofe heads number one. Leeds started the second half on the front foot, Hernandez tormenting the Ipswich rearguard at will. The 29,000 plus fans didn’t have long to celebrate a second Leeds goal, a quick corner saw Ezgjan Alioski pass to Pablo Hernandez who ‘whipped’ a low ball into the area. Kalvin Phillips cleverly let the ball fall to club captain Liam Cooper who stroked the ball into the top corner of the net. Liam Cooper seals the win.
From that moment it was just how many Leeds could put past Ipswich, Alioski’s brilliant shot came back of a post, Forshaw was then brilliantly denied by Bialkowski. Peacock-Farrell brilliantly denied Nolan a goal late on as Ipswich tried their best to get a consultation goal. Leeds deservedly claiming a much needed win and three points. Key players: Kalvin Phillips, impressive throughout and my MOTM in his last two games, the way he has developed under Bielsa is wonderful. Pablo was also back to his mercurial best after his lengthy absence(we do miss him when he’s out!)and Stuart Dallas also put in a good shift after coming on for the injured Gaetano Berardi. We’re top of the league, we’re top of the league. We’re Leeds United and we’re top of the League!! MOT By Keith Ingham Mick Hewitt is back again to keep your season busy with more planned programme fairs.

How long have you supported Ipswich Town? Supported Ipswich since 1975 - funnily enough the 3 matches in the FA Cup against Leeds United, all shown on Danish television. Brought up with football from England on TV every Saturday (same all around Scandinavia at the time). We all had our team - although few of us at the time ever been to England. This tradition back in 1970 & 1980's. What’s your favourite moment as a Ipswich Town fan. Season, game or anything other occasion. Favourite Ipswich team shared between 1981 where we came 2nd in league, 2nd in FA Cup but won the UEFA European Cup - and then in 2001 when we came up in the PL and became 5th. That's when I was at Elland Road with my friend the Leeds supporter, sat among Leeds supporters and had to keep quiet while we won 2-1. Another very, very big moment was two visits to Finland in 2014/15 meeting former Ipswich Legends Shefki Kuqi and Pablo Counago - spending quite some time with them on both occasions. Usually not possible to get that close to your heroes..... Tell us about a player that you were proud to have on the back of a shirt, if you didn’t is there one you wished you would have. In recent years had two favourite players: Marcus Stewart and later Pablo Counago. Intelligent strikers with good technical and creative skills What’s your most memorable match playing Leeds. Most memorable match against Leeds that on Elland Road in 2001. Are you happy with your dealings in this summer’s transfer market? The transfer situation this summer was difficult as we brought in unexpectedly many players and sold our goal scorers. Then the league began and we just had our last few players through the door. So half the games so far felt as pre-season, where players and our new manager team had to get to know each other. That has not helped results obviously. Had prepared to keep Martyn Waghorn and get less new players. What’s your realistic aim for the season? This years start to the season indicate our primary target has to be survival - everything else a bonus Who in your mind is going to be promoted this season? Boro, WBA probably will go straight up. Leeds obviously looking good for a play-off at the moment - but let's see, you have a few "roller coaster seasons", change of managers - so needs to be seen if you can get some consistency into the result. Can you name your three for relegation this year? The relegation battle probably will be between Rotherham, Millwall, Reading and Birmingham. Sincerely hope we will not be fighting for survival until the final day. Who’s your danger man? We had high hopes for Jon Walters' return but that didn't happen with his achilles injury - probably will not play for us again. Our key man is our winger Gwion Edwards (don't tell anyone :-) ) - other two strikers not had too much luck yet. Can you tell us about a rising star in the youth ranks? Chalobah done really well for us - but owned by Chelsea. But we have several young players doing well in or around the team: Downes, Nydam, Bishop and especially Andre Dozzell Prediction and scorers for the game? Think we will be lucky and get a 1-1, Freddie Sears with our goal. COYB :-) Thank you Jorn. By Keith Ingham Since Last Time
Andrea Radrizzani speaking at ‘Leaders Week’ in London. Leeds United worth double what the Italian paid for the club in May 2017. Sergio Canos of Brentford found not guilty of a head but on Ezgjan Alioski during the game on the 6th of October.Looked like one to me!! Leeds are asked to supply information and find the culprits who threw coins and bottles in the same game. Dean Smith, manager of Brentford replaces Steve Bruce as Aston Villa manager. John Terry will be his Former Aston Villa Chairman Doug Ellis dies on the 10th of October. He was involved until 2006 when he sold the club to Randy Lerner. He was aged 94. Gaetano Berardi, Connor Shaughnessy and Kemar Roofe start for the under 23’s start against Burnley. Hopefully ready for a return to first team action against Blackburn Rovers on the 20th. The game ended 2-2 with Leeds’ goals coming from a deflected Berardi header and a Kemar Roofe shot, Leeds lead 2-0 but Burnley came back and equalised in the 72nd minutes. Head of the Academy Richard Cresswell speaks to Phil Hay about his new challenge of keeping the production line going at Thorpe Arch. Pontus Jansson charged by the FA for “abusive and/or insulting/and or improper/and or brought the game into disrepute” Bloody farcical after Canós was left off for a clear head butt on Ezgjan Alioski. Tuesday 17/10 HAPPY BIRTHDAY LEEDS UNITED! Zack Warner talks ahead of Leeds’ away clash at Ewood Park in what is going to be a magnificent atmosphere.
How long have you supported Blackburn? I have been going to Rovers for eighteen years. What’s your favourite moment as a Rovers fan? Season, game or anything other occasion. My favourite moments was the entertaining game against Manchester United where David Bentley scored a hat trick. Also last season where we got promoted back to the championship Tell us about a player that you were proud to have on the back of a shirt, if you didn’t is there one you wished you would have? I would be proud to have Bradley Dack or Adam Armstrong on my shirt because they are two young and good talent in our team. What’s your most memorable match playing Leeds? Where Blackburn won at Elland Road. Are you happy with your dealings in this summer’s transfer market? Yes the summer signs are good and could do with another centre back What’s your realistic aim for the season? Middle table is my aim for Blackburn for the first team back. Can you name your three for relegation this year? The three teams that i think will be relegated is Rotherham, Birmingham and Bolton. Who’s your danger man so far this season? Our danger man is Bradley Dack Can you tell us about a rising star in the youth ranks? Ryan Nyambe is rising youth star Prediction and scorers for the game? Blackburn to draw with Leeds 2 - 2 with Bradley Dack to score first We’d like to thank Zack for answering our questions and wish him the best of luck for the season. By Keith Ingham |
