Ahead of Tuesdays Carabao Cup clash with Burnley, we spoke to two fans about all things Claret and Blue. Here's Keith Ingham's interview with Steven Kelly;
How long have you been a Claret?
Ever since I became interested in football, which is probably about 55yrs.
Who are your favourite players?
From over the years, Ralph Coates, Dave Thomas, Martin Dobson, Steve Kindon, Leighton James, Peter Noble, Ade Akinbye, John Francis, Glen Little, Danny Ings.
From the present squad, Tom Heaton, Ben Mee, James Tarkowski, Jeff Hendricks, Jack Cork, Steven Defour, Robby Brady, Gudmonson, Sam Vokes, Chris Wood
Favourite era or season?
We've had quite a few highs in my lifetime, even in the lower divisions, but I wasn't old enough to take notice back in the early sixties when we last won the league and played in Europe.
So I would have to say the last four or five seasons have been pretty amazing for a club of our size, and staying up in the premier league last season with the current financial climate in football was as good as anything we've ever done for most of us.
Thoughts on Charlie Taylor and Chris Wood?
I've seen a lot of derogatory comments on Facebook about Charlie Taylor from Leeds fans and I know there was some disagreement about him being unsettled at Leeds, (I know that's an understatement) and we've seen this before with players.
Time will tell how that works out, but he seems quite talented and a good prospect for the future. So far I've only seen him play in pre-season friendlies.
Chris Wood has already made his mark and looks set to be challenging for top scorer at the club this season, but then I've always thought him to be a good player from the day he scored for Leicester against us in the championship 13/14 season.
Couple of Players that have impressed early in the season and a player you expect to come through the ranks from under 23 squad?
James Tarkowski has been phenomenal since taking over from Michael Keane in central defence.
Jack Cork and Steven Defour in midfield, Chris Woods, and the last game and a half, Nick Pope in goal.
Premier League Champions and three to go down?
I've never been good at predictions, which is why I never bet, but I think M.Utd will be hard to stop this season, although it will be a close fight with their neighbours and probably Chelsea.
To go down, well, Crystal Palace have rode their luck for the last few years, and they're giving themselves a great chance so far. For the other two I think Brighton and quite possibly Huddersfield.
Which Teams to go up from the Championship?
Leeds are looking a really good option now. I think they will be in the mix this time. Wolves and Sheffield Wednesday. Possibly Cardiff.
Do you think any of the 3 teams promoted from last season will last more than 2 seasons in the premier league?
I think Newcastle will stay up as long as they keep their manager, but the other two will struggle despite Huddersfield's good start.
Hull made a good start last season, but it's a difficult league. Burnley still have to make it longer than two seasons yet.
Following football is a stressful hobby for any fan, especially at small clubs.
Prediction and scorers for Tuesdays game?
I don't know who will be in the teams, but I think 1-0 Burnley. Chris Woods to score. It is an ironic game isn't it?
We'd like to thank Steve for taking the time to answer and questions. Make sure to keep your eye out for Part 2!
